ADSS to Enter Plastic Recycling Market
The Auckland Durm Sustainability Services (ADSS) business is focused on helping customers make sustainable choices.
A natural extension to the company's existing capabilities is to offer customers a more comprehensive recycling proposition. As a result, ADSS has announced that it will expand its plastic recycling capabilities through the establishment of a new purpose built plastic recycling facility on the ADSS Penrose site.
The process entails the conversion of hard to recycle HDPE plastic scrap into material reusable within New Zealand. Large volumes of the target material are currently going to landfill or being exported unprocessed. This project provides a legitimate local alternative rather than shipping this resource overseas.
Through its close alliance with significant New Zealand based plastic packaging companies, ADSS is in a strong position to optimise and maximise the reuse of the recycled material as a direct sustitute for virgin plastic polymer.
The project will assist partnering plastic packaging companies and their customers to fullfil their product stewardship obligations and provides a true "cradle to cradle" opportunity for their packaging.
The project is due to go live mid 2011.
